I went to El Peñol 2 located on 570A Broadway in Revere, MA. We had a true Columbian food feast here! For drinks I tried their jugos naturales en augua (nature flavored water). They have so many flavors to try (mango, papaya, guava etc.) and you can get milk versions of them too. I tried their blackberry water and it was super delicious 9/10. For appetizers we had fried plantains 7/10, yucca frita (yucca fries) 7/10 and mixed ceviche platter 7/10. The mixed ceviche platter was quite the sight! It had shrimp, scallops, octopus and avocado. If you are in the mood for some seafood I recommend trying this dish. For main dishes we had the carne en crema de champinoñes (beef in mushroom sauce) 8/10, the picadillo de pollo (marinated chicken) 7/10 and pescado frito (whole fried fish) 7/10. For any of the dishes you can also get a side of rice and beans, fries, salad, or fried plantains. For dessert we got flan 7/10 and churros with ice cream 7/10. This place is very affordable and provides great portion sizes. I can see why they have two other locations (Boston and Brookline!). Next time I come back (or perhaps do delivery!) I want to explore more of their drinks and of course get plantains/yucca fries.

Highly recommend- Good/large food portions for amazing prices. I usually order "la bandeja paisa" and I tend to have enough left over for later in the day. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They restaurant is on the smaller side (no more than 30 people). I recommend calling ahead of time in case you would like to know if a reservation is needed (mainly during the holidays).
